Sweet days, long years, looking for answers…

Hi! Welcome back, glad you’re here. In my first post, I discussed a pre-employment health exam and an abnormal EKG. The MD chalked the abnormal EKG up to caffeine consumption and I moved on.
In the next few years, life was busy, as it is for most young families. The days were filled with getting kids off to school, activities, family, fun, work, laughter and life. We were busy and happy. I look back on that time and feel like it went too fast, days were long, years were short. Isn’t that how it is for so many parents? Raising your babies feels like each phase will last forever, then it flies by, they’re 2, then turn around they’re 10, 16, 18, making their own lives.
Every once in a while, I felt a rapid heartbeat, nothing else. Just an odd feeling of a beat that was a flutter, fast pace, then as fast as it came on it was gone. The only family history that I knew of was my oldest brother, Pete. He was seen by a cardiologist regularly, but passed away at 47, cardiac arrest. I didn’t connect those little flutters, those rapid, out of nowhere fast paced beats to anything to worry about. Hadn’t the Doc reading my abnormal EKG? Too much caffeine? Something was coming, I just didn’t see it yet. That’s next time on Myheartistryingtokillme.
